The Gathering at Given is typically held the first Thursday of each month at 3:30 pm and lasts for about forty-five minutes, with a Q & A period and refreshments afterward.  It is free and open to the public.  Recent Gatherings have featured Carol Dowd from Botanicals, Sherry Mortensen of  The Faded Rose who discussed selecting apparrel for travel and demonstrated a wrinkle-free way of packing, John Derr, Jaime Diaz, and Jim Moriarty spoke about covering professional golf for the media,  Dolores Muller, Master Gardener, Mark Elliott of Elliott’s on Linden, and Bob and Jane Forsyth, dog breeders and judges.  Please send us an e-mail if you would like to be reminded about our Gatherings.

 

September 9, 2010, at 3:30 - Brenda Lyne, Lyne’s Furniture Gallery, along with Mary Taylor of The Lyne’s Den, in Southern Pines, and Aldena Frye of Floral Design in Aberdeen, will be teaming up to demonstrate table settings and floral designs for the holidays.

 

October 7, 2010, at 3:30 - Eve Avery and Alice Remble.  Eve ownes a retail shop, and Alice operates an upscale consignment store, both on Broad Street in Southern Pines.  Together they will show us how to look fabulous in these tough economic times and how to stretch your budget by getting more mileage out of what you already have in your closet, using updated accessories and pieces.

 

 

 

November 4, 2010, at 3:30 - Carol Dowd, owner of Botanicals, will be presenting decorating tips for the holidays.  She will also be giving helpful ideas for putting together creative hostess gifts.
